In a previous post, we mentioned one of the ways to start a hive of bees is with a small working hive called a nucleus hive or “nuc.”
We placed three nucs out recently and here are some pictures of those.
In this photo, you can see the five frames which make up the nucleus hive.
The five frames, plus five more are moved to a full sized hive body and – viola- the bees take up housekeeping in their new home.
